Annual Louisville Labor Day Parade

I was living in 'olde town' Louisville, and I heard a ruckus outside my door, which backed up to the alley...garden-level apartment! I sought out the source of what sounded like a big party, and I found the staging area for the Louisville Labor Day Parade. Well, I photographed my sixth parade last week, and here are some of the visual treasures that I discovered.

As always, prints are available in variety of sizes, mounted, and ready to be hung, compliments of the fine work of Picture This Superior.

US Pro Cycling Challenge-stage 2

The US Pro Cycling Challenge finished Stage 2 this afternoon in Aspen, with George Hincapie (USA), Team BMC winning in a sprint finish in the town of Aspen. The day was not without mishap as twelve riders went down leaving Gunnison. One rider in particular suffered two broken hands, and missing teeth. Photos that you see are of Rafael Infantimo (COL), team UNE-EPM leading out approx. 2 miles from the summit of Independence Pass. There are shots of the

peloton with Levi Leipheimer (USA), team Radio Shack in the yellow jersey, and Andy Schleck visable in the center and George Hincapie with red helmet.

Touted to be the biggest sporting event ever to hit Colorado, and certainly the biggest cycling race ever held in the USA, the USA Pro Cycling Challenge held a press conference today in Golorado Springs. In attendance were Governor Hickenlooper, Colorado Springs Mayor, race organizers, and the winners of this years Tour of France, Cadel Evans, and Andy and Frank Schleck, together with Ivan Basso, Christian Vander Weld, and Boulders own Tom Danielson.
I'll be posting race pix through-out the week as I am able. Please visit the site, and I'd appreciate your passing the link along to others that might enjoy it. Thank-you, Gary Rhodes

Flatiron's Community Church

Flatiron's Community Church, in Lafayette, christened our new church this past weekend, with over 11k people attending five services. Last year, we bought a vacated Walmart, and a vacated Albertsons, and we put a 30 millon dollar make over on them, and we call it Walbertson's. It's church like you've never experienced, and its Jesus Centered. Come on by, attend a service, and you'll never be the same again...

if any of you need or know of someone who needs photos to be shot in any location in the world, please refer me...!?# I speak fluent English, and Construction Spanish. Thank you, Gary

Conference On World Affairs-2011

63rd Conference On World Affairs ran April 4-8 on Boulders C.U. Campus. I was able to attend three days, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Got to meet Gigi Ibrahim, who, as a twenty-four year old, Egyptian activist, was on the front lines, in Cairo, earlier this year. Two of my Woodstock heros, David Crosby, and Graham Nash were there also. CWA gathers thinkers/artists from around the globe, and provides a forum for them and students and other participants to interact, and learn.
